about
Lauren Schnarr is a self-taught artist from Vancouver, Canada. She grew up in both Canada and the U.S. since her parents are Americans. Although she watched her mother paint during her childhood, she had little interest in painting until 1997 when she decided to try her hand with some canvas and oils given to her by her mother. After her first painting, she was captured and has since painted over 3,000 canvases.
My Story
At the age of 40, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I just knew that I needed to make a change because my lack of enthusiasm for my office job was at an all time high. I was convinced that I was mean’t to do something else. I started out in Interior Design and thought perhaps I would delve into that again. I love to cook so I started a pie company, but that was short lived as I quickly discovered that my pleasure of baking deteriorated when under pressure to produce too many pies per day. I was really surprised at how much pleasure painting brought me. It was a creative release that I craved.
Although my paintings were quite terrible and amateur, with the encouragement of several people, I continued to paint and improve. Within a couple of years, Art galleries and I were selling paintings to individuals and businesses throughout North America. As my passion for painting and interior design grew, I was consumed and now have painted well over 3,000 canvases.
I have been fortunate enough to travel to some wonderful places for clients who commissioned me to paint for their homes. Several paintings were published into limited edition prints and numerous paintings have been featured in many TV films.
My work has been exhibited in several galleries over the years but now my work can be seen in my art studio or online.
After 2 decades of painting, I still love and crave it. I am always dreaming about my next series and can hardly wait to get started.
Thank you for taking the time to read the “Coles Notes” version of my story and I hope you enjoy browsing through my website galleries.
Giving Back...
I feel it is so important to give everyday… whether it is just simply giving a smile to a stranger or checking in on someone who may not be doing well. I have felt so fortunate to do what I love for a living and giving back is imperative for me.
A few times per year, I donate artwork to organizations that are raising funds for really meaningful causes. This gives me great pleasure and am thankful to the various charities for including me in their fund raising endeavours.
